Listening to part 1 isn’t mandatory for understanding part 2, but we promise you’ll want to tune into both! 

This time we dive deep into the 3 ayurvedic doshas or constitutions and talk about how they form. Each dosha is made up of a unique combination of the 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. Kumar goes into detail on the body type, temperament and mind of each dosha and how to work with your own energy to keep it balanced. Spoiler: Acceptance of what allows to come into balance.

Ayurveda: The science of Life with B. Naga Kumar - Part 1

Hi there!

In this episode, we talk with our dearest teacher B. Naga Kumar of Mysore, India about Ayurveda. Kumar shares with us his own story about growing up in India and studying Ayurveda under his grandfather, who he mentored with in the younger years of his life. 

Kumar’s background focuses on the non-physical, energetic part of humans. In the second half of the interview, Kumar talks about the 5 elements in Ayurveda: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space.

Since we ran short on time, we decided to do a part two with Kumar that will air in October. In that episode, we will focus more on defining and understanding the doshas.

This week’s topic is Holding Space! What does holding space really mean? Being able to sit with someone and remain a constant during a season of life without imposing opinions or judgment, is what we mean by holding space. Having a friend, partner, or family member let you cry, vent, or complain while supporting you through the process and letting you feel safe to be yourself.

Life gives us so many different situations which spur on different emotions - the comfortable and the uncomfortable. Holding space requires the ability to sit and feel these emotions, not trying to fix or change them. It is in moments like these where we must use wisdom and intuition to do the right thing!
